Yes, traveling to the centre of the earth on a boat is unfeasible, but floating on top of it in a boat, filled with two of every animal species on the planet, as its flooded and wracked by storms is perfectly logical.

actually it says they had to gather some of every kind of food and store it on the boat.
maybe the flood happened before the continental drift.
