Why I renamed the blog

I decided that 'Incoherent Rant' was no longer an appropriate name for my blog. I don't think it ever was appropriate after the first two posts.

The blog is changing course to be more aligned with my current interests which involve the matter I discussed in my previous two posts. I'll be talking about life, religion, science, irreligion, atheism, pastafarianism and so on.

  5. i am interested to know how you approach the differences (if any) between the terms 'no religion' and 'atheism'.

  6. I don't know about KJ, but I personally would view the difference as this:

Atheism being an absolute lack of belief in a god, but not nessecerially a lack of religion. The athiest may believe in some other kind of supernatural force or presence, or still have spiritual beliefs without them involving a god (for example, they may believe in reincarnation), or may have non-deital reasons for a certian moral code that they follow similar to a religion.

No religion, on the other hand, would be the exact opposite. The person doesn't follow any religion, whether godded or godless, but doesn't nessecerially disbelieve in a god either, simply they choose not to worry about it. This would be more likely what agnosticism and IDGAFism would fall under.

  7. Similar to what Namida said.
Atheism to me is a belief that nothing supernatural exists.

No religion doesn't necessarily entail this, but rather a lack of any particular belief, whether naturalistic or supernaturalistic. Also as Namida said, agnosticism and IDGAFism are exactly this.

  8. there's an IDGAFism?

that's cool... because i choose not to label myself atheist but i abhor the connotations of agnosticism.

  9. Abhor the fence-sitter connotations or the concept that you cannot gain knowledge about something?

  10. I think he means the implication that he's actually searching for the answer, whereas IDGAFism implies that he doesn't know and acknowledges this, but doesn't really give a crap about finding out either.

  11. And just so you's know: The *real* term for Idgafism is "Apatheism".
